Q.I am 9 weeks pregnant, I recently went to the doctor for my first prenatal visit and he told me not to use any artificial sweeteners. I use splenda and I was wondering if that would be considered an artificial sweetener. And should I stop using that. Also, This is my 3rd pregnancy, with my first after 36 hours of labor I was given an emergency c-section, with my last I wasnt even given the choice for a vbac just told it would be a repeat c-section. Is is too dangerous to try a vbac after 2 c-sections? And in most cases with 3 c-sections do you think if I have another c-section with this pregnancy they will use the same scar, and cut me the same as in previous c-sections or will they make a different incision? Thanks so much Monrella

Dear Monrella, I would recommend using honey or maple syrup or steevia as a sweetener. Those are all very safe. I recently treated a woman who had on C section previously. Her doctors were willing to let her try to have a normal birth, but would not induce her. I helped her get her labor started, but unfortunately she had another C section after a long labor. (My malpractice insurance does not let me go into the labor room.) If you can get an acupuncuturist to attend the labor, you would have more success. However, I do not have anough experience with C sections and VBAC to know whether you could safely try again to have a normal birth this time. Good luck Molly Greacn, acupuncturist
