Dear Cristy,
Thank you for spending some time at our Bellies, Birth, & Babies website.
One of the many changes that your body goes through during pregnancy is that your lungs increase in capacity by more than 20%, so that you can take in enough extra oxygen to supply the baby inside you. Your lungs acually increase in size ~ and since they are located inside your rib cage, this size increase can often displace or misalign ribs or stretch the cartilage between your ribs. Either one of these scenarios will result in rib pain.
A series of gentle adjustments by a chiropractor who understands what is happening will usually ease or relieve this pain.
Good Luck!
Dr. Julie Seymour, D.C.
