Q.I am breastfeeding my 2 1/2 week old child. I would like to pump once during the day so my husband can give a feeding at night. If I store the breastmilk in the refrigerator, how long does it need to sit before being able to feed it to the baby or does it need to sit in warm water?

Answer #1

Hi, Babies like milk to be warm....similar temperature to a warm flat beer or soda. If you want to warm it quicker, put the refrigerated milk in a bowl of warm water. Stephanie Moore, RN, BSN, IBCLC Owner Becoming Mothers Boulder, CO www.becomingmothers.com
