Hello Celia,
Not knowing what your high-risk status was with your first pregnancy makes this more difficult to answer. Conservatively, I'd say that walking would be your best bet. Begin with 15-20 minute walk daily and add about 5-10 minutes a week until you can comfortably walk for one hour. You want to walk quickly enough to feel a change in your breathing and still be able to talk. For toning: look for a well trained Pilates teacher in your area. Try www.pilatesmethodalliance.org to find someone. If that doesn't pan out, look for a prenatal yoga class but be sure to ask the teacher about their experience with pregnancy and be sure they know of your specific personal history.
Make sure you are drinking lots of water especially when exercising. You should drink about 3-4 quarts of fluid a day including water, milk, and limited diluted juice.
Since you are already pregnant, losing weight would be ill advised. Your baby is growing and needs appropriate nutrition to be its best. Meet with a nutritionist or dietician to develope a well balanced diet for you to follow for this pregnancy so that you can nourish yourself and your baby and avoid too much weight gain. Bedrest does add a factor that is somewhat out of your control. Keeping to the prescribed diet will assist you in feeling your best and feeling more positive about this pregnancy and its outcome. Good Luck !
